Mark Zukerberg – Founder of Facebook had posted on Facebook official acocunt about this deal with Instagram. Mark was so anxious to tell the news? Read the whole post of Mark Zukerberg on Facebook.
Mark Zukerberg buys the Instagram for $1 Billion. Its a very huge amount but there are many plans behind this big deal. Day by day Facebook improves the photo experience of users, so it is very good and correct decision to buy Instagram at the right time before any competitor company like Google or Twitter or Microsoft, buying Instagram. This is the defensive move of Mark Zukerberg against other big social networking sites like Google Plus, Twitter, MySpace, so.cl (Microsoft new social networking site). This is not very big amount for Facebook, as Facebook has $4 Billion in cash on hand by December 2011. The purchasing amount will be paid in cash as according to the blog post of Facebook –
“This is an important milestone for Facebook because it’s the first time we’ve ever acquired a product and company with so many users. We don’t plan on doing many more of these, if any at all. But providing the best photo sharing experience is one reason why so many people love Facebook and we knew it would be worth bringing these two companies together.”
This is very smart purchase by Mark Zukerberg because after getting Instagram as whole, this will allow to share and post pictures to other networks like Twitter, Flicker etc.
Instagram is leading photo sharing network, the Android Version of Instagram released last week, who immediately downloaded by millions of users. Now we can guess the popularity of Instagram among other free photo sharing networks like Flicker, Picassa etc. Instagram is the only photo sharing network who had not focused on revenue generated by users anymore, its absolutely free and always focused only on user’s experience. Instagram’s CEO, Kevin Systrom stated about this deal to tell something to Instagram users-
“It’s important to be clear that Instagram is not going away. We’ll be working with Facebook to evolve Instagram and build the network. We’ll continue to add new features to the product and find new ways to create a better mobile photos experience.”
